Commercial Law Conference

Conference

In january 2000 star dean-willcocks proudly sponsored the inaugural australian accountants conference in aspen, colorado, usa and in january 2001 the conference was held at whistler blackcomb, british columbia, canada. those conferences were outstandingly successful and enjoyed professionally and socially by all.

Gillis Delaney Brown, Lawyers, have co-sponsored the previous Australian Accountants Conferences and following that long association are proud this year to join Star Dean-Willcocks as a major sponsor of the Australian Accountants Conference this year to incorporate The Commercial Law Conference.

We have again secured the support and participation by way of co-sponsorship of BNP Paribas Asset Management Pty Limited and Star Corporate for the third Australian Accountants Conference.

Clearly, the professional who keeps up to date with recent developments is in a position to best conduct his practice or business, not only for the benefit of clients and customers, but in a manner to best protect himself.

In 2001 we had the benefit of some 25 delegates who were lawyers, the cross fertilisation between the lawyers and the accounts without exception extended professionally every presentation and the open forum sessions provided for stimulating interchange beneficial to both professions. With the onslaught of multi-disciplinary practices and with accountants venturing into the public arena, the scene is set for another beneficial foray.

Without exception we are probably all GST'd out, the reality is it has impacted enormously on all Australians; business, the consumer and the professional. It will however be beneficial for all to review the GST some eighteen months down the track; what lessons should we have learned and what should we do in 2002.

Like it or not, whether it be the GST, difficulties in competing with countries with vastly lower costs or otherwise, we are heading into uncertain economic times, how do we identify problems before they overtake our clients and just where do you and your clients invest. In its third year, the Australian Accountants Conference is an attempt to create meaningful discussions to find new and creative solutions to problems in these areas and more.

The conference program has been structured to be of professional interest to other advisers who are often called upon by the accountant and/ or lawyer. The sponsors would welcome, and indeed encourage non accountants and lawyers to attend the conference for the mutual benefit of all delegates.

In addition to an active professional and social program a number of topics will be offered which will be of interest to accompanying persons who are cordially invited to attend any session they find of interest. The Conference provides a great opportunity to compensate partners and families for the disruption caused by the demands of the busy professional and commercial life. Your family can be actively or passively involved in various aspects of the program.

The Australian Accountants Conference 2002 (incorporating The Commercial Law Conference) will emulate the high standard of professional content and relaxed friendly environment of the inaugural conference held in Aspen in 2000 and replicated in Whistler in 2001. The conference is promoted by Value Tours (Aust) Pty Limited.

The program is designed to provide CPE, CPD and CLE points for participation. Kindly note that early registration is highly recommended. Numbers are limited and places will be allocated strictly in order of receipt of completed booking forms and payment. As our package prices have been negotiated on group fares and hotel rates, we are unable to offer immediate confirmation for those wishing to register outside the package however a waiting list will be established and places offered only in the event of the conference package not being fully subscribed. In the event of the conference being fully subscribed all subsequent booking and registration fees received will be refunded.
